This painting is an illustration of the secret place of being hidden in God. The high canyon walls extend the whole way around, leaving only a narrow opening. It is a very deep, concealed place reserved for those who choose to pursue relationship with God into those veiled places of intimacy and friendship. The waterfall represents the one who has chosen to come this far. The precipice he kneels by is an invitation to go even deeper, not knowing where it will take him or if he will ever recover from the fall into the heart of God. Those who do are never the same.
