This painting is about surrendering to the invading presence of God in all areas of your life. Total surrender feels so vulnerable and exposed, not able to hold on to anything that we cling to for comfort. A place we are naked and not ashamed. In this place we also recognize the necessity for faith to be active in our life. It is only by trusting in God’s omnipotence and believing that He knows all things and will have His way, only then will you ever truly be free to step into what He is calling you to. For most people, this is a terrifying concept because it means letting go of the control that we often fight so hard to protect. It means your whole life is ruled by an “unseen” but known and felt God who, in the words of C.S. Lewis, “is not safe, but good.” So good.
